I am not so sure that ANY free online booking system is worth its salt. For example, when a client books an appointment using the free version of Genbook, the owner must take the time to process the request. The client isn’t really booking online – the client is simply submitting a request.
Saving time is of the essence here. So why would owners want to make more work for themselves using a free, partially functioning online appointment system?
Online booking should be automatic and result in LESS work, not more. There are several systems available for much less money and which are easier to use. But you may have to hunt for them in Google.
Cheers.
Ron,
It doesn’t sound like you’ve tried Genbook. I’ve had dozens of clients use it and I’ve never heard a complaint like this from them.
By the way – originally – the free version of Genbook was unlimited but now it’s a 30 day free trial.
However, you say that saving time is of the essence – but I have to disagree.
One GREAT way to “save time” is to make it difficult for clients to book an appointment with you. By making it hard to book appointments – you’ll definitely “save time” and as an added bonus – you’ll have lots of free time because you won’t be bothered by those pesky clients/customers.
Seriously – Genbook makes it easier – not harder – for clients to book time with you. That’s what online appointment scheduling is all about. Allowing the client to book NOW while they’re at your website. Don’t make them pick up the phone – don’t make them waiting until your office is open and the phone line isn’t ringing busy… online appointment scheduling allows them to book right now.
I am looking for appt. scheduling software, but don’t need the client access to it. This would be for internal use for my small business.. recommendations?
GenBook used to be free but without a Client database. There are a number of other ‘free’ ones, but with certain limitations – each one has to be evaluated individually. Of the ‘free’ ones ClickBook.net is very good because of it’s many features and innovative client management process. It is however limited to 50 current appointments on the free version. In my view, the benefits these systems provide hugely outweigh the price. Just the reminders (SMS reminders available in ClickBook) to clients are easily enough to justify the cost.
I agree, Genbook by far is the BEST I think.
I started with the free version, back in the day and then they changed it to a service where you pay a monthly fee. My business in the first year of using it, grew over 200% so I’m thrilled.
I also agree, it weeds out the clients you don’t want, to the clients you do want when you have to capture their information.
Super simple and still to this day the best in my view, and I continue to look for better, not for myself, just when friends ask, what is the best way – I browse for something better and always end up with Genbook.
